Work in Progress

Exhibit A: Me trying to pretend that winter doesn't exist and hoping that by wearing no tights my legs would warm themselves up by some magical power.
Boy was I wrong. However, I did enjoy the cute socks and matching colour scheme so much that it wasn't THAT bad. Plus my friend Emma, who is a wonderful self proclaimed photographer made taking these photos super super fun.
On an unrelated topic, sorry for the massive delay in posting! To be honest, I've not been making much progress in body acceptance lately and been feeling stuck in a rut with it all. I haven't been spending enough time working on feeling better and I think that neglecting the issue altogether really makes it worse. I think self esteem is kind of like a plant that needs feeding, if you forget or are too busy, then it just dies (and my reign as Queen of Analogies continues).
Recently, I have started looking at other girls blogs again which always provide me with endless inspiration and taking the time out to appreciate my body and everything it does for me. Which means you lovely people are provided with blog posts. Blogging forces me to take the time to appreciate the way I look and hopefully inspires a few of you beautiful people to do the same!

Until next time,

Kate

                                                                       Hey guys,

Last week, I thought it would be a grand idea to get my glad rags on for absolutely no reason whatsoever (obviously nothing to do with procrastination) and the results are in.
I got this dress probs about 6 months ago and had never worn it until these pictures, which is absurd considering how princess-like it clearly is. I may or may not have been twirling in 80% of the photographs that had been taken.
In my pursuit to become a heel-kinda-girl, I also bought these super pointy courts which admittedly I have only worn around the flat thus far, but I am (mostly) sure that one day I will fulfill my quest and step into the great outdoors in them.

Hope you're all having a wonderful Monday!

Much love,

Kate

Hey guys,

Sorry for the gap between posts, I have been rather preoccupied with the week's festivities (i.e. university and work). I wore this outfit AGES ago now for a visit to the library, I kind of like the layered look it has going for it but I'm entirely sure I was just freezing and wanted to wear all the clothes I possibly could.

For those who don't know me, I absolutely love high knee socks (I'm rocked an glittery pair on my instagram last week) and will wear them under any and all circumstances. Although I'm sure I spent the whole day prancing by the books pulling them up.

Much love,

Kate

Hallo!

So I found these are super old pictures the other day (proof of my century of planning for this blog) and thought they were pretty cute. This outfit isn't something that I would wear nowadays (since it's not at least 90% black) but these Topshop Moto jeans were actually the first high waisted pair of jeans that I purchased and so used to wear them ALL THE TIME. Like seriously, I'm pretty sure I wore them to bed once.

Also, I hear you ask what that yellow light is in the background? Well, that my dear friends, is the sun. I know, I had to Google it too. Apparently it's warm and tingly on your skin, but to be honest, I'm not entirely sure it exists.

Ciao lovely people,

Everything's cool when we're all in line for the throne

Hello my friends!

This post is something a little different and by little, I mean nothing close to me standing outside in the cold trying to look presentable. Earlier this week I made muffins and thought it would be cool to share the recipe I did it with! I tend to bake quite a lot (leaves me feeling like an accomplished goddess) and I think this recipe is finally perfect. Be warned, there are like a bazillion blueberries in each one. Yes, I counted them and that's how many there were.

Hope you like them and if you make them with this recipe I would LOVE to know how you get on!

Kate

Blueberry Muffins
Makes 12, Oven 180°C, 25-30 minutes

Ingredients

115g butter
200g plain flour
250g caster sugar
125ml milk
2 free range eggs
2 tbsp baking powder
pinch of salt
200g blueberries
1 cap vanilla essence

Method

1.) Preheat oven and line muffin tray with muffin cases.
2.) Sieve the flour, salt and baking powder together and leave until later.
3.) Cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
4.) Add the eggs and beat well.
5.) Add the milk and vanilla essence.
6.) Add the flour mixture from earlier.
7.) Add the blueberries.
8.) Panic about how many blueberries there are.
9.) Fill each muffin case with mixture.
10.) Put in the oven.
11.) Sit in front of oven watching the muffins* for approximately 25 minutes until they are ready.
12.) Leave until cool and then enjoy!

*Feel free to roam during this time, like the normal people you are.

Kimono Jacket - Charity Shop
Crop Top - Urban Outfitters
Skirt - River Island
Boots - ASOS

Hey guys.

I went to Liverpool last week for a night out and managed to get a few pictures of what I was wearing, which is obviously super exciting for everybody involved. This skirt I got in the sale for £6. Yes, £6. Honestly, I think I have a gift for paying ridiculously low prices for EVERYTHING. I love this skirt because I'm not entirely sure that it isn't hideous and I really enjoy that quality in an article of clothing. Also flashing my midriff because I am cray-zay.

Much Love,

Kate

I've not been too well today but it means I've actually had some time to gather some inspiration that I have most definitely been lacking. It's been hard this week to concentrate on me because I went back to uni on Monday and have been trying to get to grips with my work/uni balance again. I did manage to get some photos on Monday when Chris and I went to Bury. Bury is this ridiculously cute/weird town near to Manchester where they have an abundance of charity shops; it's dreamy. I bought a few things which included a granny coat (I promise your gran has one), a green tartan skirt and a patterned make-up bag. It was supposed to be a way to rein in spending on loan day, and I did spend a lot less than if I had been let loose in Urban Outfitters!
Anyway, the red dress is another charity shop find which was actually a lot longer but my auntie shortened for me, which is always a cool trick for dresses that are gorgeous but that really weird charity shop length. The velvet jacket I absolutely fell in love with straight away and actually thought I would struggle to wear, but have worn it a few times just this week!
Also, I'm thinking of starting to write foodie-type posts as we tend to eat out a lot, hopefully have one up soon!

Much love,

Kate

It was actually kinda scary posting these as I was a bit unsure with how they came out. I guess it was going to happen at some point but being on the other side of my comfort zone is well, uncomfortable. I have decided to bite the bullet anyway because what's the point in only uploading photos that are from an angle that I'm happy with, or in a good light? That's not going to be how I look to other people, as much as it would be lovely. I am sure everybody I know has seen me at some bad angles and you know what? Life goes on. It's a miraculous concept that the people around you don't actually care what you look like, at least not half as much as you do, and once I personally realised this, I became so much happier.
Although, as demonstrated in these photos, there are still days when I question myself and resist the urge to either stay inside or wear joggers and an XXL T-Shirt (or a combination of the two). I'm only human, but a few months ago I wouldn't have taken photos, I wouldn't have put them on here and I definitely wouldn't talk about it now saying openly how hard I found it. Progress is magical.

Until next time,

Kate

You're from the 70's, but I'm a 90's bitch

Jacket - As before
Dress - River Island via ASOS
Top - ASOS
Necklace - eBay
Shoes - ASOS (Old)

Hello!
So this posts highlights my one true love; the 1990's. I feel as though being only 8 at the turn of the millennium was a traumatic event for me and I've been forever trying to pretend that it isn't true.
This post is actually pretty old now, at the magical time where I managed to get my hair silver, but I saved it because I remember how nice I felt this day. This dress is actually still available on ASOS and I would recommend it to everyone, including those with boobs that often refuse to partake in the fitting of clothes. It's really light and prefect for Summer. I also love when buttons go down the whole of dress. I tend to get most of my jewelry from little shops or eBay, the quality from eBay is never great but it is always really cheap, if not hit and miss. Though for £1, can't really complain!
I'm going to Liverpool tonight and so hopefully will fit a couple of outfit posts in while I'm there which would be nice, it's really surprising how often I wear the same clothes over and over instead of mixing up what I have. Planning to go somewhere I think has pulled me out of my comfort zone a little, which will be nice! (and kinda scary)

Love,

Kate
